How do I use slideshow?
Slideshow function can be a perfect fit for the launch of a new product, memory of a past event or a portfolio for a photographer or those in the performing arts.
Preparation:
- Ensure you are in edit mode and Advance (upper left corner) If in Basic click and change.
1. Are you creating a new page for the slide show? If not go to 2. If you are then:
a. Go to the top menu bar click on Insert/New Page = a pop-up Page will appear
b. Select Add a New Page
c. Locate: Choose a Page to Add and scroll down to Slide Show and click Next
d. Complete the rest of the directions then click Apply. Now go to 3.
2. Insert a slideshow into an existing page then:
a. Go to the top menu bar click on Insert/Image/Library/Library a second column appears
b. Click on Image Tools/Slide show/ Use this. Then cancel (click X in top right) the File Manager window
c. A shadow Slideshow appears with an accompanying Editor box
3. Reposition the Slideshow with Drag & Drop. Adjust the dimensions
a. In Editor click Image/Add image from the existing images in My Files or Library. (Alternatively use the Upload Files to upload an image from your computer. For more information on uploading an image read or view Uploading Photos). Click, Use This.
b. Continue to locate and choose images and click Use This until all the images are loaded on the Slideshow.
c. Close File Manager. Now view your images on the Slideshow
d. Change the order of the images go to Editor/Image/Organize. Locate Drag. The icons appearing in this column and be dragged up or down to reorder the associated images
e. To delete an image click on the garbage bin (delete button) for the appropriate image. Note you can add additional images here.
f. Modify the elements of the Slideshow. Image/Advanced.
- Main Image Options try either option then click on Apply to see how the chosen image’s dimensions are modify
- Captions could either Autohide or Rollover (similar showing the captions for a few seconds) or Hide Captions
- Padding refers to the space around the image. Enter different numbers to determine the padding best for your slideshow.
- Click on More
- Make a choice re: Slideshow controls (show, autohide, rollover or Hide). I use Show to give the visitor control
- Select the speed of your Slideshow using the slidebar. When you click on the slidebar the number of seconds that the slides will
change is shown
- Once you have made your selections click Apply
g. Go to Editor/Setup and make choices about the Thumbnail bar
- Thumbnail Options choose the size (5,10,15 – 15 being the largest)
- Choose to Crop or Keep Aspect Ratio – if unsure Keep Aspect Ratio
- Select the location of the Thumbnails
- If you want music to accompany your Slideshow click Add Music (a separate tutorial will cover this topic)
- Once you have made your selections click Apply.
h. Editor/Style and choose the surround colour for your Slideshow
